The Stroke Association is a national charity that is solely concerned with stroke.  Every year over 100,000 in England and Wales have first strokes – about 10,000 are under the age of 55.

The Stroke Association provides practical support for people who have had strokes, their families and carers.  We campaign, educate and inform to increase knowledge of stroke at all levels of society.  We run telephone helplines, provide publications and welfare grants.

The Stroke Association

Within the West Midlands Region we have 13 Family Support Organisers, 5 Dysphasia Support Organisers, 1 Information & Education Centre and 1 Hospital Information Point.  Geographical coverage for the region is North & South Staffordshire, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Birmingham, Coventry, Warwickshire & Shropshire.

The Family Support Services is a visiting service, which provides practical and emotional support and helps the family to prepare for the changes they will have to make as a result of the stroke.

The Dysphasia Support Service is designed to help people who have lost the ability to speak or understand speech; the service is delivered via home visits and weekly group meetings.

If you require any further information about the location of the services please contact:
