Bournville College is a college at the heart of its community. Its aim is to help people reach their potential by excellent teaching and training in a lively, supportive and welcoming atmosphere. Centre for Health and Care The Centre offers a range of training opportunities and services to individuals and organisations within the Health and Social Care Sector. There is a facility for customised training programmes to meet specific needs and a wide range of nationally recognised qualifications. These are available in the field of Early Years, Care, Care Management, Advice and Guidance and Professional Development Qualifications for Occupational Therapy Assistants, Communication Support Workers, Counselling, Speech and Language Support Workers and Physiotherapy Helpers. The range of evening provision covers most curriculum areas including A Levels, GCSEs and other examination programmes such as a wide range of City & Guilds courses. Saturday morning and Community venues provide a variety of courses. These are aimed at giving you an introduction into a subject area and information on how to progress. A comprehensive range of Business Information Technology packages is also available. A full portfolio is available from the Business School Information Office in the Information and Advice Centre.
Courses in IT and job skills are available on-line using the internet either at home, at work or at the Learndirect Centre in college.
Study on-line when it suits you. You’ll be in a ‘class’ and be able to talk to your tutor and your classmates. For the past 30 years the college has continued to improve access for people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, ensuring access to further education and the right for people to follow their own choices.
All students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities will be encouraged to think about, plan and discuss their own learning programme in the college. Students should be able to join the course they want, if they meet the entry criteria, and follow it with individual support they need.
The college has its own careers advisory service, staffed by experienced and qualified staff. This is a free service and is available to current and prospective students. The service is available throughout the year.
